Zeck UBS Big Bait Cast

Even though Uli Beyer prefers fixed-spool reels in most situations, there are certain applications where a multi-reel or baitcasting reel is simply indispensable. When casting heavy lures weighing over 120 g or trolling even heavier lures, the strain on the “casting finger” or the spool’s axle is simply too great. That’s where the Big Bait Cast comes into its own. Its length—rather unusual for a big bait rod—has proven itself to Uli Beyer for many years. It provides the necessary casting distance and is also very useful for trolling. The Big Bait Cast is equipped with three counterweights at the rear end of the handle, each weighing 12 g. Zeck had this system newly developed with their supplier because they were not satisfied with the grip of the rod weights available on the market. Of course, they have also fitted this high-quality rod with Fuji SIC guides. In addition to the robust and securely mounted hook eye, another highlight is a discreet 1-meter marker. This allows a meter-long pike to be quickly identified by simply stopping at the rod (1-meter mark to the lower edge of the cork handle before the counterweights or end cap = 100 cm).
