(206 products)Boilies: tempting carp baits for successful carp fishing!
The Askari Fishing Tackle Shop offers boilies from well-known brands such as Anaconda, Top Secret and Starbaits in a wide range of colours and flavours. Particularly popular are the boilies from our own brand Kogha, where the catchability and the price/performance ratio are equally good. Boilies are probably the best known and most frequently used bait for carp fishing. Besides the aroma, the colour also plays an important role. Dark boilie colours are recommended for large carp, as the carp's natural food is usually dark as well. When night fishing for carp, colour is secondary. Both in terms of colours and flavours, manufacturers are very creative and the product range of boilies is huge.
These baits originated in England in the 1960s. The word boilie comes from the English word "to boil". During production, boilies are boiled or steam-cooked, which makes them tough or extremely hard, depending on the recipe. An assembled boilie is very firm and can withstand strong casts and long periods in the water.
Boilies consist mainly of vegetable or animal flours. These include, for example, maize meal, blood meal, fish meal or hemp meal. Additives such as oils, extracts and flavourings round off the list of ingredients, and in some cases colouring agents are added.
The size of the boilies means that they can be used in a variety of ways.
The size of the boilie allows the angler to select his catch even more, so the by-catch and the catch of smaller carp is greatly minimised. The boilie is not offered on the hook itself like other baits, but attached to a hair. This is an inconspicuous and as thin as possible line that is attached directly to the hook shank. Another advantage of this assembly is the self-hooking effect on the lip. This prevents swallowing.
Boilies have become an indispensable part of modern carp fishing, so it is not surprising that there is a wide range of boilie accessories. These include boilie drills, boilie needles and boilie crushers for crushing boilies so that they can be mixed into the feed.
