Shimano Curado BFS CUBFSXGL
The Curado BFS (Bait Finesse System) was developed for fishing with light finesse lures and features an FTB brake (Finesse Tune Brake). Combined with its ultra-light, flat spool, it allows you to cast very light lures – which push conventional low-profile baitcasters to their limits – with ease. Anyone who has ever tried to cast very small and light lures with a conventional baitcaster will be familiar with the problem. As a rule, conventional baitcasters are simply unable to achieve acceptable casting distances with lure weights of less than 5g. This is where the Curado BFS comes into its own. For all baitcasting enthusiasts of finesse techniques, the Curado BFS is just the ticket. The Curado BFS is ideal for targeted fishing for perch and trout.
But it can also handle larger fish that have taken to small lures. Furthermore, thanks to its low weight, the Curado BFS is extremely comfortable to use and causes no fatigue. The FTB system of the drag is a key factor in the Curado BFS’s finesse casting performance. This is based on a series of magnets housed in the side plate opposite the handle, which exert a braking force on the inner surface of the spool. By adjusting the brake, these magnets are either pressed further into the spool (more braking force) or moved away from it (less braking force). However, there are no moving parts on the spool itself, which, together with the spool’s low weight, is also the reason for the ultra-low start-up resistance. Furthermore, the finesse casting performance is further optimised by the S3D Spool Design and Super Free Spool technology. Precision gears in the gearbox, high-quality ball bearings and X-SHIP technology ensure smooth, efficient reel performance. A lightweight aluminium HAGANE body further reduces the reel’s overall weight.

Safety instructions:
“ - Handle hooks with care: Always cover the fishing hooks or remove them from the rods for transportation. Use corks or hook covers to avoid accidental injury.
- Keep your distance: Fish at least 10 meters away from others to avoid accidents. Watch out for people behind you before casting. Be careful with carbon fiber: Carbon fiber rods are strong but can be brittle. Avoid dropping them or banging them against hard surfaces as this can cause damage.
- Safe transportation: Always take your rod apart and place it in a protective cover during transportation to prevent damage from external influences.
- Carbon fiber rods conduct electricity. Do not use them during thunderstorms or near power lines.
- Never try to pull lures or leaders out of trees or bushes by applying pressure to the rod and fishing line. This can result in the bait/lead being catapulted towards the angler. Use only your hands to free the bait/lead.
- Train beginners: Instruct children and beginners in the safe handling of rods and hooks to minimize risks.
- Safety distance: Always keep a distance of at least six meters from high-voltage power lines when carrying or using fishing rods.
- Avoid high sticking: Do not bend your rod too much while you are drilling a fish, which is known as “high sticking. Hold the rod at a maximum loading angle of 45 to 60 degrees to avoid breakage.
- Aligning the rod for snags: If your lure snags, keep the rod pointed at the hook while walking backwards to reduce the strain on the rod.
- Be careful with carbon fiber: Carbon fiber rods are strong but can be brittle. Avoid dropping them or banging them against hard surfaces as this can cause damage.
- Safe transportation: Always take your rod apart and place it in a protective cover during transportation to prevent damage from external influences.
