The Spheros SW offers outstanding technology at an attractive price. The Spheros is perfect for fishing in coastal waters, but the larger models can also be used for light big-game fishing. With the HAGANE Body and HAGANE Gear, it delivers maximum power and is up to any challenge. It also features Shimano’s top-class X-Protect for effective protection against water and dirt. Although the Spheros SW boasts impressive features and technology and delivers first-class performance in all situations, it is not a cheap alternative to the Stella or Twin Power! For light big-game fishing and use in coastal waters, it is a superb reel offering impressive value for money.
However, those specifically targeting the strongest big-game predators such as giant tuna, massive GTs, groupers or sharks would be better off opting for one of the more expensive models. For holiday trips to tropical waters, however, the larger models are a cost-effective option. The Spheros is an impressive reel whose features far exceed its price. Thanks to the HAGANE Body, this reel offers reliable performance even in the toughest conditions. The combination of HAGANE Gear and X-SHIP is further enhanced by InfinityDrive technology, achieving maximum power transmission whilst ensuring smooth running. It also features X-Protect (IPX-8), which prevents water from penetrating the vital moving parts. However, the drag power is not quite as strong as on the more expensive models and, by comparison, it has fewer ball bearings. The Spheros is a good choice for all small and medium-sized game fish and is characterised by Shimano’s quality features.

- Train beginners: Instruct children and beginners in the safe handling of rods and hooks to minimize risks.
- Safety distance: Always keep a distance of at least six meters from high-voltage power lines when carrying or using fishing rods.
- Avoid high sticking: Do not bend your rod too much while you are drilling a fish, which is known as “high sticking. Hold the rod at a maximum loading angle of 45 to 60 degrees to avoid breakage.
