Shimano Catana DX Trolling Lite
The CATANA DX Trolling Lite is ideal for trolling with live bait and small lures. It is available in four models, ranging from 6lb to 20lb. The full carbon blank is remarkably slim, very sensitive and has a superb semi-parabolic action, which allows the use of light lines. Light line trolling is an exciting and extremely effective fishing technique that is very successful for catching smaller pelagic species. With the affordable Catana Trolling Lite, even budget-conscious anglers now have the opportunity to enjoy a specialist rod for light line trolling. Even from a small boat, this rod allows species such as sea bass, bonito and mackerel to be caught near the coast. The Catana Trolling Lite is built on a lightweight and responsive full carbon blank.
In the lighter versions, the semi-parabolic action ensures exciting fighting experiences, whilst the stronger models offer enough power for larger pelagic species. Unlike many other rods, the corrosion-resistant Seaguide Stainless Steel guides are mounted in a spiral pattern on the blank. Thanks to the arrangement of the guides, the line runs in a spiral from the tip section around the rod to the handle. This significantly optimises line control and also improves fighting performance. A lightweight aluminium reel seat complements the EVA handle, ensuring maximum comfort and control when fighting large fish.
Safety instructions:

- Carbon fiber rods conduct electricity. Do not use them during thunderstorms or near power lines.
- Never try to pull lures or leaders out of trees or bushes by applying pressure to the rod and fishing line. This can result in the bait/lead being catapulted towards the angler. Use only your hands to free the bait/lead.
- Train beginners: Instruct children and beginners in the safe handling of rods and hooks to minimize risks.
- Safety distance: Always keep a distance of at least six meters from high-voltage power lines when carrying or using fishing rods.
- Avoid high sticking: Do not bend your rod too much while you are drilling a fish, which is known as “high sticking. Hold the rod at a maximum loading angle of 45 to 60 degrees to avoid breakage.
- Aligning the rod for snags: If your lure snags, keep the rod pointed at the hook while walking backwards to reduce the strain on the rod.
