Zeck has optimized this offset hook with a large eye in collaboration with the manufacturer VMC to meet your specifications. The barb is quite small. Together with the “slippery” PTFE coating, this helps the hook penetrate the fish’s mouth effortlessly. A smaller barb is also fish-friendly. But don’t worry—the barb is large enough to ensure the hook remains securely anchored in the fish’s mouth, even when it’s shaking its head violently. In addition to use on the Rushka and Cheburashka, you can also use the Wide Gap Screw Hook for drop shot fishing, on Carolina, Texas, Free, and Kickback rigs, for soft jerking (e.g., in combination with tungsten nail sinkers), or for numerous other applications that exist when fishing with offset hooks. The Wide Gap Screw Hook is equipped with a removable bait spiral that acts as a bait keeper. Your bait remains intact and sits rock-solid in the perfect position on the hook. Thanks to the clip on the front eye, you can also easily remove the spiral from the hook. Depending on your needs, you thus have the option to fish with or without the bait spiral. The lower “resin knob” at the bend of the offset hook also serves as a sort of bait holder for the head area of the soft plastic lure when rigged directly. The bait spiral is secured by two “resin knobs” between the hook eye and the shank. The front knob simultaneously closes the sharp-edged slit at the lower end of the eye. When you tie the Wide Gap Screw Hook directly to your leader using certain methods, you avoid the risk of damaging the fluorocarbon or thin steel line, or of it getting caught at this point. In addition to perch fishing, you can also use the larger versions for pike fishing. Thanks to its wide gape, the Wide Gap Screw Hook can also be combined with voluminous rubber lures.
