However, the inner qualities offered by this bite alarm far exceed expectations in this price range. There are no extra costs for a separately purchased snag bar to prevent the rods from slipping sideways, as it is securely bolted into the casing. Equipped with a sturdy and easy-to-use power button – a feature usually found only on high-end models – a triple beep sounds when switched on. The electronic capabilities are thoroughly impressive. The sensitivity can be adjusted with great precision across six levels, ensuring you’re well prepared for all wind and weather conditions.

Volume (in eight levels, starting from silent) and pitch are also adjustable. For good visibility, even in complete darkness, a single press of a button is enough to switch on a continuous night light. This not only causes the twin LEDs to glow, but also makes the dial light up red. When a fish bites, the left-hand white LED flashes clearly to alert the angler – even if the sound has been switched off – whilst the right-hand red LED remains lit continuously. If the line comes to a standstill, the white LED continues to glow for a further twenty seconds.

A special feature is the second tone, which sounds at any set pitch whenever the wheel turns towards the angler. A drop bite is thus immediately recognised by sound, and the experienced carp angler knows straight away that they must check the swinger. However, this bite alarm is not designed solely for carp fishing; even when fishing with a free line, the incredibly smooth-running wheel spins instantly and reliably indicates even the most tentative bites.
