The Catana FF combines excellent value for money with advanced Shimano engineering, making it the ideal choice for both beginners and experienced anglers. With impressive technologies such as Silent Drive, Anti-Twist Fin and a torsion-resistant body with a metal handle, the Catana offers smooth running, stability and durability that are exceptional in this price range.
Attractively priced, reliable and designed for performance, the Catana stands out as a versatile fixed-spool reel that performs well above its price range. Whether casting light lures, used with balanced, medium-power rod and reel combinations, or for match and feeder fishing – it proves flexible and efficient whilst also impressing with a sleek, understated design. In practice, technologies such as Silent Drive ensure a particularly smooth, even run, whilst the Anti-Twist Fin optimises line guidance and reduces unwanted line twist. Combined with a Shimano rod in the lower to mid-price range, this creates a balanced, reliable setup that impresses both visually and technically in every situation.
In use, the well-balanced design of the Shimano G-Free Body immediately impresses. The construction is lightweight yet torsionally rigid, and thanks to the robust metal handle, it can be operated comfortably and with precision even during long fishing sessions. Silent-Drive technology, combined with three stainless steel ball bearings and a roller bearing, ensures a smooth, quiet and reliable running action, as well as efficient power transfer from the handle to the rotor.
The aluminium AR-C spool, together with the Varispeed II line lay, supports long casting distances and precise casts – with both monofilament and braided line. Anti-Twist fin technology keeps the line neatly aligned, reduces line twist and improves control during use. In sizes 2000 and 2500, flat-spool versions are also available, which are specially designed for use with fine braided lines.
The Catana FF range covers a wide variety of sizes and gear ratios, including fast-running HG models ranging from the finesse-friendly size 1000 to the powerful 4000. A lever to deactivate the anti-reverse provides additional control, ensuring that every Catana variant is designed for a smooth, dynamic and reliable fishing experience.
